Good Morning, I hope this Tuesday morning in dreary November finds everyone happy and well? I have had "Update Blog" on my to do list for about 2 weeks now! It seems to be one of those jobs that can be put off but really shouldn't be...
The first month trading as woodandwillow.co.uk rather than girlswhogarden.com has been amazing! I am now sure that the change of name and added stock ranges were the right thing to do to move the business forward.
The new website is now almost totally finished, as I write this the final tweeks are being made. We will now be able to offer Promotion codes for special offers to our customers via Twitter and Facebook! Can't wait to start these offers!
Talking of social media sites, I have become a Twitter addict (someone please help me!) What a lovely community I have joined. Within 3 weeks of joining @woodandwillow1 now has over 600 followers! All lovely people who have been so helpful and welcoming to me in getting started. I have now managed to find my way round and mostly understand the Twitter jargon. I feel part of a huge community, which is great as working on my own from home (as I am sure you understand) can be quite a lonely life. There are so many small businesses I have come into contact with, it makes me realise there are thousands of like minded small businesses/sole traders all out there working mad hours like me to get a successful business off the ground.
I have found contacts for gorgeous new stock all handmade which I hope to add to our range soon. So I would definately recommend joining the Twitter family if you are a small business.
We were chosen as Bluebiz Net's UK business of the day last week! We spent the day in the "Spotlight" and loved every minute of it.
On a more personal note, my teenage children snort in disgust at my "Tweeting" habits so I have made it my goal to get "Celeb" tweeters to give me a mention, just to prove my girls wrong! So far I have only managed to get Greg James Radio 1 DJ ...but I will not be defeated!
Our Gisela Graham range continues to be popular, and in the last month we have added to our stock to bring you some gorgeous Christmas decorations including sparkling twig and pearl adorned Hanging Hearts on pretty ivory ribbon (these also make original Wedding decorations), wooden Heart and Star Christmas Tree decorations and traditional looking felt snowflake Hanging Hearts.
Our best selling item this week has been the Garden tool set with bag, they are flying out so watch out...you could be on the receiving end of one of these gifts!
I have decided to have a daily Special Offer leading up to Christmas, so do keep popping back to the website to see what our current offer is.
Talking of Christmas, I hope you are all a little more organised than I am? I have been so busy with the relaunch of the site that organising anything to do with Christmas has so far passed me by. Do I start to panic yet? With 6 children to buy for (4 being teenagers) I think I really should take a couple of days off and get myself sorted! Especially when I have already received a text from Step daughter and eldest daughter telling me they have organised our pressies! Oops!!
So, if you are like me and have not yet got those Christmas gifts sorted, do please take a look at the website. We have a large range of original Christmas gift ideas for your loved ones. Whether they are budding or avid gardeners (our Burgon & Ball range is very popular) or keen Chefs (lovely French fabric Kitchen Apron sets) or just pretty Shabby Chic home accessories, we really do have something for everyone. Our rustic willow log baskets have also been very popular this year, so if yours is looking a little tired do take a look.
Right, well I think I have waffled on enough! I hope to update our blog a little more often in future (although I am sure I said that last time)
Enjoy the lead up to Christmas and I hope you can remain stress free despite the madness that goes on all around us.
Thank you for reading our blog, if you would like to leave us a comment we would love to hear from you.
Have a good week
Nicola :-)
I love the new name! And glad your first month has been successful. Congratulations on the BluebizNet thingy!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd don't worry, you're not alone. I have also been so busy setting up my new business I haven't even started on the Christmas stuff yet. I have 3 children and 2 stepchildren ranging in age from 5 to 23. I'm not too worried though - the last few years I've squeezed the whole lot in to Christmas Eve! lol
Glad you are up and running and getting ready for Christmas. Twitter is indeed a great community, but my kids also think I'm mad. Good luck with your Christmas trading
ReplyDeleteWell done, Nicola! I definitely did not know about you before, but new name seems very well noticed! All the best, Kerstin
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you are doing so well....your website is gorgeous....best of luck in the future
